Italian Man Nearly Drowns

An Italian tourist, AR (41), found himself in trouble at Kelingking Beach, Nusa Penida – next to Lembongan island - on Saturday (4/6/2022) and suffered what appeared to be a severe injury to his leg.

The incident occurred at around 2:00pm - while swimming he was hit by a big wave and dragged out to sea.

One resident who saw the incident, immediately reported it to Denpasar Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas). The search and rescue team arrived by speed boat but had to swim in order to evacuate the man because the rough conditions.

At 5:15pm the victim was successfully evacuated using ropes and a spinal stretcher. It’s not clear how he injured his leg or how badly he was hurt, but he was transported to Padangbai Harbor for further treatment.
